I chatted with the very talented Krissie Kierzek a few days ago and here is the interview in today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinal.
Q. What did marriage teach you about cooking?
A. My husband is from Mumbai, the western part of India. I learned how to make rice from my mother in Delhi. Rice is done when it is stuck together. My mother-in-law came to visit. I made rice (the New Delhi way). She said "It's OK, dear, if you don't know how to cook. I'll show you."
You learn about nuances and different cultures.?.?.?.?From my mother-in-law, I learned a great deal about how to use peanuts and coconut, which are not typical in Delhi.
