I have only one thing to say about this book: BUY IT. Roots: The Definitive Compendium with more than 225 Recipes by Diane Morgan is the ONLY cookbook you will ever need on cooking with root vegetables. Why? Where do I start?

1. Well, first: the book is gorgeous. Chronicle books has that down to a science.

2. Diane Morgan is not just a cookbook author, she is a teacher in the true sense of the word and this book is meant for those who are students of the lovely art of cooking. I think everyone at every level, from beginner to expert, will come away with something after reading this book. She is on a book tour and coming to a town near you.. check it out.

3. At first, I thought I would feature some of Diane’s recipes in this post: the ginger rhubarb chutney, the Chiang Mai Noodle curry, her superb taro chips etc. But then, I changed my mind. Dont get me wrong, the recipes are amazing but what I really wanted to showcase, was well, the ROOTS! I had never heard of so many of these.

4. Diane has written many books and will go on to write many more. I feel lucky to be able to buy her books and learn from her work. Kudos on a job well-done, again!

So here are some of the roots featured in the book… test yourself to see if you know which ones they are! I provide the answers below and will confess..  I did not know them :-(.. Wondering what to do with these? Well –>> check this out. ( Of course she has glorious descriptions and recipes for potatoes, radishes, turnips and all the regular roots as well!!)
